Environmental Stewardship of Indigenous Lands (ESIL) Program Fund

The Environmental Stewardship of Indigenous Lands (ESIL) Certificate Program allows students to gain liaison skills in the completion of their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), business, humanities, and social science degrees. Through courses, workshops, and internships, students learn about cultural competencies, knowledge and approaches, communication, law and politics, and environmental applications. Housed on the downtown Denver campus, the mission of the ESIL program is to engage students through education and community partnerships that promote healing and stewardship of land. Your gift will be used to support ESIL students in a variety of ways, including:

• Supporting students with tuition and educational costs
• Purchasing educational materials for workshops
• Purchasing snacks for events
• Funding travel to attend workshops and conferences
• Funding guest speakers on campus
• And supporting students with financial need arising from personal and educational emergencies.

Your gift will help with the retention of students so they can continue to earn their degrees and meet their career goals!

The success of the Environmental Stewardship of Indigenous Lands (ESIL) Certificate has led to the creation of a sister certificate called Native Food, Energy and Water Systems (FEWS) through CU Denver’s continuing and professional education programming. Similar to ESIL, the Native FEWS Certificate attracts students from a variety of academic, cultural, and experiential backgrounds interested in community collaboration. Students come to the Native FEWS program from other states and Colorado! The Native FEWS Certificate is open to CU Denver students, non-CU Denver students, and non-students alike!
